Becca talks about songwriting, gear, musical influences, and stuff…
“Take Five” focuses on Chicago’s ever-growing music scene by giving you insight to the city’s best local acts via the best source possible: the artists themselves. Here is the latest installment featuring Tyler Jon Tyler.
If Tyler Jon Tyler were a kid in your high school he’d be the cool one everyone likes; who doesn’t try too hard; who mixes among the jocks, deadbeats, and nerds with an ease you might consider annoying if you didn’t already like him so damn much. The three-piece’s no-frills guitar pop and punk attitude is so immediate and charming it’s almost impossible, no matter what your musical affliction, not to enjoy.
In the fall, the group released its debut, self-titled LP to a multitude of positive reviews. They are currently on the road and returning to Chicago today to play Beauty Bar before going back out in June to tour with Times New Viking. We recently caught up with lead singer and guitarist Rebecca Valeriano-Flores to ask her about the dynamic of the group, what gear the members dig, and what they do when instruments aren’t in their hands.
